The Ethereum Name Service is the open naming layer with over 35 million registered names, made for every chain, app, and wallet. It is built on the Ethereum blockchain, and all protocol upgrades are governed by the ENS DAO.

The ENS Foundation exists to further the Ethereum Name Service through growth, policy and standards initiatives.

In 2026 the ENS DAO expanded the Foundation’s mandate. The ENS Foundation now holds and licenses the ENS trademarks, represents ENS before ICANN, the IETF, and the W3C, pursues the .ens top-level domain, engages regulators, administers grants, and oversees the ENS Endowment.
